Some teams do pre-choreography and map out routines "before" their music is mixed and some prefer to do choreography "after" their music is mixed. Both methods are fine and each have their place. We suggest "everyone" map their routine when complete regardless of how you perform your choreography. Here is why: 1. A mapped routine provides a great tool for the team in learning the choreography. Copies can be distributed so the team can follow the routine on paper. 2. You as a coach/choreographer can have a birds-eye view of everything. For example, if you need to work on a certain section of your routine, instead of walking thru the whole routine, you can simply go to the page for that section. There you can easily find where it starts, what song is playing and where things "hit". 3. Having a mapped routine in your hand can help you to find any trouble spots or areas of concern. It gives you an "over-head" perspective. You can find any sections which begin, end or contain uneven or odd counts or sections where the music "style" may not fit the routine section. These things will jump off the page to you and can help you to make adjustments and improvements. When creating your sheets, there are three items we look for. The routine section (tumbling, pyramid, etc). Any song going on during that 8-count and any sound effects which must hit on certain counts. You can find "printable" 8-count sheets on our site for use as well as detailed instructions on filling them out along with a sample routine. Don't be afraid to practice with your current routines and remember we are always here to help.
